Brighton MP commits to beating cancer
David Lepper, Brighton Pavilion Labour and Co-operative MP, has backed efforts to beat cancer at a major Cancer Research UK event in Parliament.
During a Parliamentary event on Tuesday this week David discussed the importance of keeping cancer high on the political agenda.
MPs heard about Cancer Research UK's new Commit To Beat Cancer campaign, which calls on the next Government to make the UK's cancer outcomes among the best in Europe in the next ten years.
David said:
"The NHS has made great advances under a Labour government in the diagnosis and treatment of cancer. The right to see a cancer specialist within two weeks of diagnosis is vital and I am sorry that so far the Conservative opposition has not guaranteed support for that right.
"I will not be in the next Parliament but I hope the advances of the last 13 years will be continued by those Westminster then deciding on health policies,"
