Baird welcomes great news for Wilton Plant
27 January 2010
Redcar MP, Vera Baird, today warmly welcomed the news that Artenius UK has been bought by the 5th biggest company in Korea, KP Chemical, who will recruit about 130 skilled Teesside workers while continuing the 41 jobs currently at the plant.
Vera said "This fantastic news comes almost exactly six months since Artenius announced closure. Then it was all despondency. We knew the firm was profitable, but it was saddled with debt by its Spanish parent company and there seemed nowhere to go. Now it is all delight. KP are a great new convert to all that is good about Tees Valley and for them it is exciting to have entered into their first British venture.
"This is a red-letter day which follows hot on the news that we are out of recession. I am delighted with this great news."
