Mike Hall MP welcomes the decision by the Planning Inspector to refuse planning permission for Block A of the Anaconda Development in Weaverham. Mike Hall is now calling on Anaconda Investments Ltd to turn over a new leaf and become good neighbours.
Mike Hall MP said:
“The independent Inspector, Richard Ogier has upheld the decision to refuse Block A of the Anaconda Development planning permission.
“I am absolutely delighted with the decision by the Planning Inspector to refuse Anaconda planning permission for Block A of the development in Weaverham.
“Block A does not conform to the original planning consent granted on appeal. It is oppressive for the residents of Greenwood Close and in particular, Mr and Mrs Carter. Block A is oppressive; it causes serious loss of visual and residential amenity. It is completely out of character with the surrounding established area of Weaverham. At the public enquiry, Anaconda Investments did not offer any reason why they built Block A significantly beyond the planning consent they had been given.
“By building this block in the way they have, Anaconda have tried to ride roughshod over local residents, Weaverham Parish Council and Vale Royal Borough Council. Their threats to take legal action to try and silence local residents from speaking out against the development are to be strongly condemned.
“I am very pleased that the Planning Inspector has decided that Block A as built is not acceptable on visual amenity grounds. I now hope that Anaconda Investments Ltd do the right thing and demolish Block A and if they want to rebuild it, they should do so with the best interests of local residents in mind and construct a building that is not obtrusive and does not spoil the visual and residential amenity of the residents of Greenwood Close. They should now act as good neighbours and comply with the Inspector’s decision.
“I congratulate the local residents, Weaverham Parish Council, the Weaverham Trust, Vale Royal Borough Council and local Councillors for the way they have conducted themselves during this matter”.
