Whizz-Kidz gets answers from MPs at party conferences

Whizz-Kidz were at Labour and Conservative Party Conferences this month, speaking to MPs about Whizz-Kidz and the importance of the right wheelchairs for young people – and we took the opportunity to turn the questions on them with some quick fire audioboo interviews.

In an innovative project aiming to make politics more attractive to young disabled people by finding out what politicians are really like, Whizz-Kidz Ambassadors Jamie Green and Max Sampson, both 17, interviewed MPs and journalists with the Audiooo application. Their interview appeared immediately on Whizz-Kidz' Twitter account and other Whizz-Kidz ambassadors were encouraged to listen to them and vote for their favorite.

MPs were quick to respond to our interview requests, and it seems we 'scooped' the fact that Ken Livingstone had been invited by the BBC (but declined) to appear on Strictly Come Dancing – a show that has just appeared back on our screens. Ken's admission appeared in Society Guardian Daily on Tuesday 28 September.

At the Conservative Conference, we found that Health Secretary, and supporter of Whizz-Kidz, Andrew Lansley would take a 'Mad Men' box set to his desert island. Max Sampson has also scooped interviews with Jeremy Paxman, Adam Bolton and Andrew Marr, who lamented that upon searching for himself online, he always finds bad news!
