Voice achieves prestigious customer service standard

8 July 2009

Voice: the union for education professionals has achieved the prestigious Customer First Standard.

The independent union, which represents teachers, head teachers, lecturers, education support staff and childcarers across the UK, is the only union in its sector to have been awarded the Standard.

To achieve the Standard, Voice had to commit to, and be assessed against, Customer First's criteria, including: identifying and meeting customers' needs, dealing effectively with complaints and queries, developing and improving services, and developing staff skills.

Principal Officer Sue Cornish leads the working group that will continue to monitor and develop the union's ongoing commitment and adherence to the Customer First Standard. She said: "We are delighted to have been awarded the Standard, which recognises the hard work and dedication of our staff at head office and across the UK.

"Our success as a union is based on our commitment to our members. We have always prided ourselves on providing a dedicated and personal service and striving for quality in everything we do.

"We know from feedback from members how much they value Voice membership. Achieving this Standard demonstrates our commitment to our members and to making a positive difference to them."
