Visit to Wales by PAT General Secretary Philip Parkin and Speech

Welsh teachers, lecturers, childcarers and education support staff will get the chance to meet Philip Parkin, General Secretary of independent education and childcare union PAT, at meetings in Swansea, Newtown, Wrexham and Colwyn Bay in October. The General Secretary will outline his views on current issues and his priorities for PAT. A copy of his speech is below. This includes the implications of devolved powers for the Welsh Assembly on teachers' pay and conditions (from sub-heading "This brings me to, what I guess, is a sensitive issue in Wales". )

On Wednesday 4 October, Philip Parkin will be at the Guildhall, Swansea, from 7.00 pm to 9.00 pm. PAT’s Director for Wales, Nick Griffin, will accompany Philip Parkin to the meeting, which will take place in Committee Room 3A/B, and will include an address by Mr Parkin and a question and answer session. http://www.pat.org.uk/index.cfm?param=news/news_detail.cfm&ID=1024

On Thursday 5 October, Philip Parkin will be at the Oriel Davies Gallery, Newtown, from 4.15 pm. There will be an address by Mr Parkin and a question and answer session.

On Friday 6 October, he will be at Yale College, Wrexham, from 12.15 pm, before travelling to Conway Road Infant School, Colwyn Bay, for 4 .00 pm.
