Unite members proudly represent UK in WorldSkills London 2011

Unite is proud to announce that four of the 43 members representing the UK at an international skills competition, WorldSkills London 2011 will be Unite members.

The 43 members of Team UK that will take part against the world's most highly skilled students, apprentices and employees at WorldSkills London 2011 later this week.

The Unite members, from various companies who will go on to represent the UK's engineering and manufacturing industry, are Phillip Spowart - Rolls Royce, Sam Andrews - BAE Systems, Rachael Carr - BAE Systems and David Nicholl - Schlumberger.

Unite assistant general secretary, Tony Burke, said:

“Unite is extremely proud of the four members who have worked tirelessly to prepare for this competition. This is a fantastic honour for our members who will be representing the UK at the worldwide skills test and it will be a great opportunity for them to showcase their skills.

“I wish them all the best of luck and I am sure they will do themselves, their employers and their country proud.”

WorldSkills London 2011 will take place between the 5th - 8th October 2011 at the ExCEL in London. It is one of the world's largest, international skills competition with young people from across the globe competing to be the best of the best in their chosen skill.
