The Queen Attends Reception For CPRE

03-Nov-2006

Countryside campaigners CPRE warmly thank Her Majesty The Queen for attending an 80th anniversary reception at St James’ Palace in Westminster last night (Thursday).

More than 500 people attended the reception, held to celebrate the founding of the Campaign to Protect Rural England in 1926 – the year of Her Majesty’s birth. The Queen, who is CPRE’s patron, spent an hour at the event and spoke to more than a hundred CPRE volunteers and friends from across England.

English wines and food from all of the regions of the country was available. ‘It was a wonderful evening,’ said CPRE Chairman Sir Nigel Thompson. ‘We’re enormously grateful to Her Majesty for attending our reception. It signifies the important work we’ve done in protecting England’s amazing countryside for the benefit of everyone over the decades, and the work we will continue to do.’
