Organised by London First in conjunction with the Mayor, Royal Town Planning Institute and London Councils, the London Planning Awards celebrate the outstanding contribution of planners to the capital's urban renaissance, and is attended by leading developers and prominent local government officials. Now in their ninth year, they are the capitals major showcase for planning in both public and private sectors.

This year's entries have been of particularly high standard. Other contenders shortlisted for awards include Land Securities' mixed use scheme on Cheapside, in the heart of the City of London, the Sammy Ofer Wing at the Natianal Maritime Musuem, Arsenal Stadium and Surrey County Cricket Club's OCA Stand at the KIA Oval.

Baroness Jo Valentine, Chief Executive, London First, said:

"Getting our built infrastructure right is crucial to London's future success, and I'm delighted that we have such an impressive list of high profile schemes shortlisted this year, not just from the City and the West End but also from the outer boroughs. Importantly, all of these schemes show a renewed confidence in development in London"

The Mayor of London, Boris Johnson said:

"Each year entries to the London Planning Awards are more impressive and more diverse. The shortlisted projects represent a continued confidence in the economic future of the capital, and are fantastic examples of how investment, good planning and the right infrastructure can help improve the quality of life for Londoners."

President of the RTPI Richard Summers said:

"The shortlist demonstrates that planning can enable great design whilst striking the right balance between economic, social and environmental issues to achieve truly sustainable development."

London Councils Executive Member for Planning, Councillor Chris Roberts said:

'Once again we have a fantastically strong shortlist for the London Planning Awards. These projects show just how important good planning is in helping London continue to be a great place to live and work and underlines the role London councils have in the qualitative development of our city.'

All shortlisted entries will go forward to the awards ceremony on January, where winners will be announced by the Mayor and Deputy Mayor Sir Edward Lister at the awards ceremony at City Hall.
