SWEDES TO VISIT CAMDEN

WHAT: Swedish delegates to visit Camden and find out how the council tackles anti-social behaviour.
WHEN: Thursday, May 3, 2007, from 1.30pm until 3.30pm
WHERE: Starting at Council Chamber, Town Hall, Judd Street, and then walkabout around the borough (full timetable available on request).

Camden is set to share its expert knowledge and experiences of dealing with anti-social behaviour with its Swedish counterparts.

A company which deals with noisy neighbours, neighbour nuisance and anti-social behaviour on council housing estates in Gothenburg will visit the borough on Thursday 3 May to exchange ideas and experiences.

The visit will include a tour of the borough with Cllr Ben Rawlings, Camden Council’s Executive Member for Community Safety, Camden police representatives, council legal advisors and community safety officers.

The Swedish company called Störningsjouren looks after anti-social behaviour on the local authority’s housing estates in the evenings and overnight. Staff are recruited for their competence to deal with people and handle different situations and conflicts.

The visit will include sharing the findings of the council’s antisocial behaviour review – the first of its kind in the UK.
