STAFF VIEWS SOUGHT ON WORKFORCE REMODELLING IN SCHOOLS

8 March 2006

The Professional Association of Teachers (PAT) is inviting teaching assistants, nursery nurses, administrators, technicians and other support staff to send in their views on the impact of the recent workforce remodelling reforms in schools in England and Wales.

A questionnaire was sent to members of PAT's Professionals Allied to Teaching (PAtT) and Professional Association of Nursery Nurses (PANN) sections in January and was made available online for both members and non-members. The survey has proved so popular - with responses still coming in - that the union is extending the closing date by a month until 25 March. The questionnaire is available at www.pat.org.uk.

The results of the survey are due to be published in late Spring 2006.
Senior Professional Officer Tricia Pritchard said: "PAT would like to find out the impact of workforce reform on support staff and what information on the reform process was made available in schools.

"The results of the survey will inform PAT's future work on this issue. We will take the findings to the Workforce Agreement Monitoring Group (WAMG) to make sure the views of support staff are heard."
