Press Release
Rise in annual new cancer cases
22 October 2010
New figures released by The National Office of Statistics show the rise in annual new cancer cases. Breast cancer continued to account for around 1 in 3 newly diagnosed cancers in women.
Dr Caitlin Palframan, Policy Manager at Breakthrough Breast Cancer, said:
"These new statistics show that breast cancer incidence has increased slightly. The good news is that more women are surviving breast cancer thanks to better awareness, better screening and better treatments.
Breast cancer continues to account for around 1 in 3 newly diagnosed cancers in women which is why October's Breast Cancer Awareness Month is so important. It is a key time of year to raise awareness of the disease and rally support for this vital cause."
