Professional marketing qualifications give more

"More", a new campaign launched by The Chartered Institute of Marketing, is set to raise awareness amongst marketing practitioners about the benefits of undertaking professionally credited qualifications.

Speaking about the launch, Susan Lawrance, Head of Marketing (Education) at The Chartered Institute of Marketing, said; "With rising unemployment and a difficult jobs market, individuals will have to work hard to stand out from the crowd. Our professional qualifications help individuals to do just that and get more practical benefits, they deliver more for their employers, and inevitably offer more rewards. Being a professionally qualified marketer means you possess the latest skills and marketing knowledge that organisations need, especially in a recession."

A recent study commissioned by eight of the UK's leading professional bodies and conducted by experts from London Economics found that professional qualifications help improve earnings and employability. The study showed that individuals with professional qualifications and membership of bodies such as The Chartered Institute of Marketing stand to gain £152,000 more in additional earnings over the course of their career and enjoy a nine per cent increase in the probability of being employed because of the transferable skills they offer.

However, a significant proportion of marketers have yet to fully appreciate the importance of a professional qualification, not only for their own career development and personal earnings capability, but also for the organisations that employ them.

"The 'More' campaign has been launched in order to bring home to UK marketers and employers the need for raising the level of professional marketing standards" explained Susan. "Qualifications are a proof to employers that marketers are committed to their profession, and that professional marketing skills do add more to an organisation's bottom-line."
