Plain fag packs would end lethal allure, says heart charity

28 April 2010

In response to the Australian government’s decision to introduce plain cigarette packaging in 2012, Betty McBride Policy & Communications Director at the British Heart Foundation, said:

“Tobacco companies use packaging to lend an allure to a lethal product. Bringing in plain packaging in the UK would make existing health warnings stand-out and emphasise the risks of smoking to people’s heart health.”

“We should follow Australia’s bold step and introduce plain packs for cigarettes here.”
