Ofqual inquiry into exam errors

22 June 2011

AQA has welcomed Ofqual's announcement that it will be undertaking an inquiry into the errors made by exam boards this summer.

AQA Chief Executive Andrew Hall said:

We know that the errors on our papers this summer have caused distress for students, parents and teachers and that this is unacceptable. We apologise unreservedly and will take all necessary steps that students get the right grades and don't lose out as a result.

We are already in the process of conducting a rigorous investigation into how the errors occurred and welcome the additional scrutiny provided by Ofqual so that we can ensure we prevent the recurrence of avoidable errors in future.
