New studies offer signpost for future direction of rural transport

2 February 2011

We are publishing six new reports aimed at assisting the provision of rural transport in the challenging economic climate. The studies demonstrate that while reduced funding will add further challenges to providing good levels of public transport, there are innovative ways in which transport planners can take advantage of the opportunities that the Big Society and more inclusive local decision-making offer to address rural transport needs.

‘Overview – providing rural transport’ gives an overview of the work and a brief introduction to rural transport planning during challenging economic times.

‘Executive summaries of the transport think pieces’ provides an Executive Summary of the reports published, together with a short summary of 5 thinkpieces already produced by CRC
