27 October 2011

Investment fund statistics - September 2011

The Investment Management Association today publishes its monthly fund statistics for September 2011.

Key findings:

¦ Net retail sales of £568 million in September
¦ Q3 2011 net retail sales of £2.6 billion (Q3 2010: £7.5 billion)
¦ Net ISA sales of £152 million in September
¦ £ Corporate Bond the highest selling sector in September

Richard Saunders, Chief Executive at the Investment Management Association (IMA), comments:

“September's further slowdown in fund sales confirms the trend of the previous two months. As a result net retail sales in the third quarter were the lowest since 2008.

“Investors were cautious in their asset class choices in September, with bonds and balanced funds the best selling assets. There was a modest outflow from equities overall, although UK equity income funds continued to attract investors.”
