Press Release
Legal profession proud to unite for London march
21 June 2010
The Law Society is calling on members to join an anticipated one million people at the Pride London Parade on Saturday 3rd July to celebrate and promote diversity and tackle discrimination based on sexual orientation.
Members are invited to join colleagues from across the legal sector for the march, under the banner Equality under the Law.
The Parade is the finale of the two week 'festival fortnight', which uses theatre, music, debate, art and entertainment to promote equality, unity and a sense of community within the LGBT population.
Pride London is in its seventh year as a registered charity and produces the UK's largest annual LGBT event. This year's parade adopts the theme 'paint the town ruby red' and promises to be one of the best so far.
Celebrate
Stephen Ward, the Law Society's diversity champion, says:
"The promotion of diversity and inclusion across the legal profession is a priority and the Law Society works tirelessly throughout the year to support the profession's work. Pride is a great way to celebrate all the excellent achievements of our LGBT members and is also a lot of fun."
The legal sector Pride team will meet at 12pm on Saturday 3rd July on Marylebone Road, outside the University of Westminster, next to Chiltern Street and from there, walk to the start point, located on Baker Street, for 1pm.
