Lane rental scheme a welcome step

22 August 2011

Commenting on TfL's consultation on a new lane rental scheme to tackle congestion caused by roadworks,

Baroness Jo Valentine, Chief Executive of London First, said: "Cutting congestion in London caused by streetworks, and the emotion it inspires, will require a balanced lane rental scheme that charges both utilities and highways agencies. London First has long called for lane rental on a sliding scale, tackling the most severe congestion while removing charges elsewhere. This consultation is a welcome step forward."

Article Comments

There is an important need to reduce the road works occurring during the day which has a negative impact on drivers and the overall economy.
