In advance of the Pensions Bill's introduction to Parliament, Which? comments

29 November 2006

In advance of the Pensions Bill's introduction to Parliament and the likely announcement of a Personal Accounts Delivery Authority, Which? is calling for strong consumer representation on any such Delivery Authority

Doug Taylor, personal finance campaigner from Which? comments:
“The establishment of an advisory Delivery Authority for Personal Accounts comes as a welcome advance for consumers and for Which?.

“However, it is critical at this stage that the Delivery Authority continues to reflect a consumer focussed approach to Personal Accounts. This is best guaranteed if we see a true consumer advocate appointed.

“A trusted, low cost and simple Personal Accounts scheme for 2012 will go a way to ensuring that future pensioners will have a better income in retirement.”

According to recent Which? research*:

  • More than four in five consumers (85 per cent) think it is important or very important to be able to trust the organisation that is running their pension scheme.
  • Almost half (47 per cent) feel they would most trust an independent body to manage a Personal Accounts system in their best interests.
