Motorhomes are ideal for people who enjoy touring holidays, says Holiday Which? today at the start of National Camping and Caravanning Week.

First time mobile travellers needn’t be nervous -it’s a fun, leisurely way to travel and good value for money too.For a typical two-person motorhome expect to pay a basic rate of £600 for two weeks*.

Holiday Which? recommends travellers pre-book campgrounds to stay for the night in popular places. A state-run or National Park campground costs around £10 and at most locations it’s possible to ‘hook up’ to local power and water supplies.

For the best possible home on the road, follow these essential Holiday Which? tips:

>For first time renters, keep it easy by comparing prices online

>Don’t forget to include essential extras, such as insurance, when you’re planning your budget

>By planning your intended route you can work out the mileage and have an idea of the cost too

>Book campground places in advance, especially if you’re going at peak-season

>Make sure you get a guided tour of your motorhome when you pick it up – this way you can check for dents and scratches and also work out how all the appliances work!
