Hire Association Europe response to the Autumn Statement

30 November 2011

HAE is pleased that the Chancellor has accepted the case to freeze the planned fuel increases. As a logistics based industry, transport costs have a significant impact on our members. The commitment to invest in new infrastructure is also welcome, as the UK hire and rental industry is a key enabler of construction activity.

Tackling unemployment, particularly among young people is vitally important, so measures to boost apprenticeships and back work-based training is something we endorse and support. Weak demand, low consumer confidence and rising costs are all worrying trends and, our industry, like sectors, is not complacent about the turbulent marketplace and the challenges of this year and beyond.
