GMB fear hundreds of thousands will be added to the dole

There is a sever danger that hundreds of thousands will be added to the dole and the unemployment will reach 3 million as the CIPD warned last week.

GMB today responded to the news that unemployment increased by 23,000 between Feb. and April 2010. Paul Kenny, GMB general secretary said, "GMB have been saying for sometime that the recovery in the economy that is underway is fragile and these figures demonstrate that that is the case.

The Tory element in this Lib/Tory coalition have always believed that 'if it isn't hurting its not working' and that is why they are planning major cuts in public services. However, the Liberal element of this coalition were of the same view as the LP that premature cuts in Public expenditure could put us into a double dip recession. It is high time that Vince Cable and those who agreed with him put their foot down and stop the worse excesses of next Tuesday's budget. There is a sever danger that hundreds of thousands will be added to the dole and the unemployment will reach 3 million as the CIPD warned last week."
