Press Release

Funding transport infrastructure

7 February 2012

Baroness Jo Valentine, comments on Transport for London’s consultation on a proposed package of river crossings in east London.

Baroness Jo Valentine, Chief Executive of London First, said:

“In the long run, we will probably need crossings at both Silvertown and Beckton to support economic growth in east London, but for now what’s required in boldness and creative thinking around funding, including the option to toll. The Mayor should consider all options for financing these schemes – particularly as the private sector has shown a strong appetite and capability to finance, deliver and maintain new road infrastructure.”
