Press Release
Functional skills accredited qualifications update
16 June 2010
Ofqual can confirm that, to date, 80 Functional Skills qualifications have been accredited ready for teaching from September 2010.
Details of these accredited qualifications can be found on the National Database of Accredited Qualifications (NDAQ):
http://www.accreditedqualifications.org.uk/QualificationSearchResults.aspx?Type=AdvancedQln&Keywords=Functional+Skills+NQF&QualificationType=NotSet&Page=1&PageSize=10.
Only qualifications that fully meet the required standards can be accredited by Ofqual. More Functional Skills qualifications will become available in the coming weeks as awarding organisations continue to submit specifications that meet the criteria.
Learners wishing to start their Diploma in September can be confident that they will be able to start as planned and that the required component qualifications will be available.

Notes:
Functional Skills in English, mathematics and ICT are stand alone qualifications available to a range of learners, designed to enable those individuals to work effectively and independently. They are also a required component of the Diploma qualification and of Apprenticeships and Foundation Learning.
The pilot Functional Skills qualifications that have been available up until now will end and be replaced by the newly accredited qualifications from September. It is possible to distinguish the new qualifications from the previous ones on NDAQ as they will have FS NQF in the 'Type' column, compared to FS for the pilot schemes.
Please note, there may be some delay in accredited qualifications being added to NDAQ as a result of processing time.
