FSB Welcome Progress On Cross Border Roaming

13th September 2005

The Federation of Small Businesses has welcomed the progress made by the two Governments on addressing the problem cross border mobile phone calls.

John Friel, FSB Regional Chairman said:

“The high cost of cross border calls is a major financial headache for any small business owner who is involved in cross border trade or whose premises are close to the actual border itself and have the problem of roaming mobile signals, resulting in paying international charges”

“The vast majority of small business owners rely on their mobile phone as a vital means of doing business”

“All mobile operators should offer all-island tariffs, including the pay as you go option as well to customers”

“We welcome the fact that both Governments and OFCOM are now making this problem a priority and we look forward to reading the report that the Governments will receive in three months time”
