FSB lobbies political parties during conference season

Tuesday 18 September 2006

The Federation of Small Businesses (FSB), the UK’s largest business organisation with over 200,000 members, will again have a major presence at the party conferences this year.

The FSB will host receptions at the Liberal Democrat, Labour and Conservative conferences.

Speakers will include Dr Vincent Cable MP, Deputy Leader and Shadow Chancellor for the Liberal Democrats, Rt. Hon Peter Hain MP, Secretary of State for Wales and Northern Ireland and George Osborne MP, Shadow Chancellor, for the Conservatives.

Carol Undy, FSB National Chairman, said:

“The FSB has made great progress in the last year in promoting and protecting the interests of small businesses and self-employed people.

“Small businesses are the life-blood of the UK economy, employing over half of the private sector workforce and generating more than 50 percent of GDP

“It is vital that we keep these facts fresh in the minds of policy-makers and maintain our influence with them. The party conference season is the perfect opportunity to do this.”
