EUROPEAN EARLY YEARS PROFESSIONALS HEAD FOR DERBY CONFERENCE

12 JULY 2006

EEEYMS (European Enhancement of Early Years Management Skills) Conference: 8 September 2006

Early years professionals from across Europe will be heading for Derby in September for the EEEYMS (European Enhancement of Early Years Management Skills) Conference on Friday 8 September at the head office of the Professional Association of Nursery Nurses (PANN) (2 St James’ Court, Friar Gate) from 10.00 am to 3.30 pm.

Guest speakers at the event will include Professor Chip Donogue, Director of the Early Childhood Professional Development Program, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA, and Barney McNeany, Northern Ireland Commissioner for Children and Young People.

The European Enhancement of Early Years Management Skills project (EEEYMS), co-ordinated by Liverpool Hope University, is a partnership involving the National Day Nurseries Association (NDNA) and the Professional Association of Nursery Nurses (PANN) from the UK and other partners from Finland, the Netherlands and Bulgaria.

It is “aimed at the early years childcare/nursery nurse sector and will develop distance learning materials specific to early years to be available within Europe. It is intended to create a European Network Association for Childcare (EuroChild) to support the co-ordination of this project and to ensure its continuance after the project is complete.”

The conference will be attended by delegates from across Europe, including students who have taken part in the pilot project, invited guests and members of the partner organisations.

Nursery workers interested in attending should contact Tricia Pritchard or Liona Phelan at PANN on 01332 372337 or e-mail pann@pat.org.uk or go to www.pat.org.uk.
