East Of England Plan: Big News This Thursday

20 June 2006

The Panel report following the Examination in Public (EiP) of the draft East of England Plan will be published at 2 pm on Thursday 22 June on the websites of the Government Office and the Regional Assembly:

Government Office: http://www.go-east.gov.uk/
Regional Assembly: http://www.eera.gov.uk/

The report presents the Panel's recommendations for how the Plan should be modified. It is sent to the Department for Communities and Local Government to consider before issuing a revised Plan. The Plan will determine the scale, shape and speed of development in the region to 2021.

CPRE spokespeople available for comment

CPRE, who gave evidence on every issue debated at the EiP, will be available for comment after the report's publication on some of the major issues looked at, notably housing numbers and environmental capacity issues (see contacts below).

CPRE's news briefing last week pointed out how this report will be an early, crucial test of the new Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government Ruth Kelly's commitment to genuinely sustainable development:
