Classroom issues to be aired at special meeting

5 March 2009

Classroom assistants and other school support and administrative staff will be able to discuss issues that concern them at a special meeting organised by Voice: the union for education professionals at Saltcoats Town Hall on Tuesday 24 March from 7 .00pm to 9 .00pm. The free event is open to members and non-members.

Maureen Laing, Voice's Senior Professional Officer (Scotland), said: "We will be looking at issues that are concerning school support staff at the moment, including Single Status and job evaluation, budget cuts and staff redeployment, and talking about how Voice represents and supports its members on these matters.

"We would like as well to hear from those attending about any other problems or concerns they would like to raise. It will also be an opportunity for staff from different schools to meet each other and Voice staff, to share ideas or just to have a chat."

Staff who would like to attend the meeting should contact Voice at scotland@voicetheunion.org.uk or call 0131 220 8241. Details are also on the Voice Website, www.voicetheunion.org.uk.
