Breakthrough Breast Cancer response to new triple drug combination increasing tumour eradication in HER2-positive breast cancer by more than 50 per cent compared with standard treatment

7 December 2011

Dr Rachel Greig, Senior Policy Officer, Breakthrough Breast Cancer says,

'Our knowledge of the biology of breast cancer can allow us to develop new, effective ways of treating women with this disease and shows we should not always rely on one dimensional solutions. Breast cancer is a complicated disease and although in the early stages, these results show that constantly testing new forms of treatment is key to the success of a patient's outcome.

Further research is needed before this drug could be made available to patients so anyone who has questions about their treatment should talk to their specialist.'
