BRC Director General, Kevin Hawkins said: “It is not just romantics who see Valentine’s Day as a hugely important occasion. For retailers, especially those selling cards, chocolates, lingerie and flowers, it is one of the highlights of the retail calendar after Christmas. With tough conditions on the high street, events such as Valentine’s Day are crucial opportunities for retailers to boost trading.”
