BRC SHOP PRICE INDEX: JULY SEES SHOP PRICES AT LOWEST SINCE 2003

The BRC Shop Price Index (SPI) inflation rate for July showed that prices are 0.60% lower than at this time last year. The overall index stands at 100.49, the lowest since July 2003.

Food prices are 1.43% up compared to last year while the price of non-food items showed a decrease of 1.84% compared to this time last year.

Overall shop prices in July showed a decrease of 1.65% from June. This was mainly as a result of the price of non-food items decreasing by 2.78% since last month.
