BRC SECURES SPECIAL QUALIFICATION DEAL FOR MEMBERS

14 September 2005

With the recent changes to the alcohol licensing laws, the British Retail Consortium (BRC) has joined forces with the BII, the professional body for the licensed trade, to offer BRC members completing the National Certificate for Personal Licence Holders a significant saving on the examination fee.

In response to the new requirements, every retail premise selling alcohol is now required to hold a premises licence and a designated premises supervisor must also hold a personal licence.

BRC Director General, Kevin Hawkins says: “As soon as we were aware of the new statutory requirements, we immediately began working with an appropriate partner to broker a deal for our members.

“We are pleased to be able to offer a discount on this excellent qualification provided by the BII to our members, which will ensure that any individual completing the course will be able to demonstrate they meet the requirements of the Licensing Act.”

John McNamara, BII Chief Executive, said: “The BII is committed to partnerships and this scheme is an excellent example of collaboration. It is based on a pay back system, which will be administered by the BII once the individual has achieved the qualification. This is a new requirement for most BRC members and we want to support the sector as much as we can under the new requirements.”
