BRC APPOINTS BUSINESS ENVIRONMENT DIRECTOR

The British Retail Consortium (BRC) has appointed Jane Milne as its new Director of Business Environment.

Jane will lead the BRC’s lobbying and policy work on a range of legislative areas influencing the environment within which retailers do business. They include employment, property, tax and transport as well as ‘green’ issues.

She is currently Head of Property and Creditor at the Association of British Insurers (ABI) where she has led policy development and lobbying on issues including climate change and flooding, terrorism, arson, social inclusion and sustainable home ownership.

She has wide experience of UK and EU Government. She was Head of Common Agricultural Policy Reform at the Treasury. Earlier in her career she worked at the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food where her positions included being Private Secretary to the Permanent Secretary at the time of the BSE crisis and Head of the EU Enlargement Unit.

Jane is also non-executive director of the Fire Protection Association and the United Kingdom Council for Access and Equality and Vice Chair of the Arson Control Forum, Communities and Local Government. Jane is an experienced media performer. She has appeared frequently on broadcast news and consumer programmes.
