AQA acquires Doublestruck, in a move to extend its learner support further into the Primary sector

31 May 2011

As part of a move to broaden its range of education services, AQA has acquired Doublestruck, the UK market leader in providing assessment databases that teachers use to design their own formative progress tests, tailored to the particular needs of their students.

This follows hard on the heels of AQA's acquisition earlier this month of Teachit, a leading provider of online teacher resources.

Doublestruck's flagship product, Testbase, is the standard reference for National Curriculum Test materials and is used in more than 21,000 schools as a key aid to teachers in assessing student progress. The company also provides similar material for the secondary sector.

Commenting on the news, AQA's CEO, Andrew Hall, said:

"The acquisition of Doublestruck further demonstrates our commitment to our charitable purpose of doing good in education, and particularly in supporting teachers to help students achieve their full potential. The ability to track and assess pupil progress and then tailor teaching accordingly is, we believe, a key factor in enabling students to be all they can. We are extremely pleased to have Doublestruck as a member of the AQA family, since we know their products can make a real difference in this area."

Laura Lassman and Jerry Podmore, Directors of Doublestruck, welcomed the move:

"We are delighted to be joining forces with AQA, an organisation whose values align closely with ours. Together we will be able to add even more value to education in the UK, and we look forward to the opportunity of working together and building on what we already do."
