Press Release

Advisory committee for members of African, African Caribbean and Asian Heritage

26 April 2011

Christine Blower, General Secretary of the National Union of Teachers, the largest teachers' union, said;

“It is absolutely vital that groups who have suffered some social exclusion from society should not be alienated within the workplace or their trade union.

“The NUT is committed to ensuring that all members play a full part and are supported in a way that is beneficial to both the members and the union.

“The NUT is committed to the recognition of all our members which takes into account issues of race, religious belief or gender. The NUT is proud of the work and achievement of the annual Black Teachers' Conference whose policies are both informative and instructive to the general policy development and running of the union.”
