Press Release
Adaptability is crucial to benefit from the opportunities a downturn brings – A learning conference that can help
31 July 2009
-Marketing adaptability – survival of the fittest
-Speakers include Jean-Claude Larreche and other leading marketing thought leaders
-Event to examine four key areas for business
The Chartered Institute of Marketing, the world's largest professional body for marketers, is holding its Annual National Conference in London’s newly built Grange St Paul's Hotel on 29 September. The conference, designed to be a fast track learning day, aims to give businesses practical help to benefit from the changing consumer needs as well as exploiting the new opportunities a downturn brings.
Chaired by writer, TV and radio broadcaster, Jonathan Dimbleby, and with presentations by Professor Jean-Claude Larreche, Martha Rogers - of the Peppers and Rogers Group, and eminent marketing thought leaders: Professor Malcolm McDonald, Professor Merlin Stone, Paul Smith and Juanita Cockton, amongst others, the day promises to be packed with practical advice for both global and local marketers, and business managers alike.
The Institute's Annual National Conference will examine four key areas – marketing strategy, customer relationship management, marketing communications, and stakeholder management – with presentations from specialist marketing academics supported, and illustrated, with real life case studies from leading practitioners in each area.
Speaking ahead of the event, David Thorp, director of research and professional development at The Chartered Institute of Marketing said; "I am delighted to have Professor Larreche deliver our keynote address. Delegates will learn a tremendous amount from some of the world’s leading marketing thinkers, and will come away with real insight into the challenges and opportunities a recession brings."
Professional marketers and business managers have a real responsibility in guiding their organisations through this still uncertain period. This compact learning day will demonstrate that by analysing, anticipating and addressing changes to their markets and customers, business managers can position their organisation for today's situation and better prepare them for a more positive future.
Those managers who keep up-to-date with their skills and knowledge will be those best placed to make the most of the opportunities, that can often accompany a downturn, and help their organisations stand out from the crowd and build long-term competitive advantage.
Further details of the event can be found at: www.cim.co.uk/nationalconference.
