A 'great loss' to the PSHE education community, as Tacade goes into voluntary liquidation

6 February 2012

The PSHE Association is sad to learn that Tacade has gone into voluntary liquidation. Since 1968, Tacade (founded as The Advisory Council for Alcohol and Drug Education) has produced and delivered high quality personal, social, health education publications and projects for children and young people throughout the United Kingdom and internationally.

Dr John Lloyd, Policy Adviser PSHE Association, who worked with Tacade on the 'Drinking and Me' and the 'Alcohol Issues for the 90s' resources said 'this a shock to the PSHE community. There cannot be a PSHE adviser or drug education coordinator in the country who has not benefited from Tacade's training nor a school that has not used their resources'.

He added 'this is a great loss and a sign of the difficult times faced by providers of support for PSHE education. Young people will continue to face the issues of drugs and alcohol on a daily basis in their lives and schools will now find it increasingly difficult to access high quality resources to support their PSHE education of the type that Tacade has produced over the years'.
