Supporting Best Evidence is a guide for supporters of people with learning disabilities who are witnesses in the criminal justice system.

The Youth Justice and Criminal Evidence Act, 1999 reflected a major change in social and political attitudes towards people with disabilities and other vulnerable witnesses.

Behind Closed Doors - This report, published in September 2001, was written in partnership with Respond and Mencap. The report was in response to a growing concern that people with learning disabilities who have been abused do not receive equal and just treatment within the legal system. Few cases reach court and even fewer result in a conviction.

Stop! No More Abuse - this is a booklet for people with learning disabilities to read alone or with a supporter.

It helps people recognise the various kinds of abuse (for example sexual, emotional, financial and physical abuse) adults with learning disabilities may encounter in their daily life.

The book encourages people to speak up about abuse.

Books Beyond Words - this series of picture books have been developed to make communication for people with learning disabilities easier. A supporting text is provided at the back of each book giving an interpretation about what is happening in each picture. VOICE UK have been involved in the production of several of the books in the series.
