• Approximately 45 million new pallets are made every year in the UK
• There are currently around 3.2 billion timber pallets in circulation in the EU alone
• In Europe, over 20 million cubic metres of timber is used every year in pallets and packaging; 2 million cubic metres is used in the UK

• Approximately 25 per cent of the sawn wood used in the UK goes into the manufacture of pallets and packaging
• There are more than 300 companies involved in the production or recycling of timber pallets and packaging in the UK
• The average lifespan of a timber pallet is between five and seven years
• Approximately 90 per cent of all pallets are manufactured from timber
