The timber pallets and packaging industry contributes significantly to our economy, and employs more than 8,000 people directly and 30,000 indirectly.

The timber packaging and pallet sector is essential to the British forest-based industry.

The industry purchases 25% of all sawn wood output from British sawmills, and provides an essential and irreplaceable market for falling boards from both large log production (with the centre core production going to furniture and construction) and for small log production.

Wooden pallet and packaging products are of fundamental importance to the movement of British goods both within the UK and for exports.
