Network Rail
Network Rail is the owner and operator of Britain's railway, which includes the tracks, signals, tunnels, bridges, viaducts, level crossings and 18 key stations which include the major London terminals. We aim to provide a safe, reliable and efficient railway for freight and passenger trains to use.
Today, more people travel by rail than at any point since the 1920s - when the rail network was around twice the size. Every year 1.3 billion journeys are made on Britain's railway and 100 million tonnes of freight is transported by rail between ports, factories and shops.
Investing in the railway will mean more trains and faster journey times, helping to grow Britain's economy.
