About us e-Skills UKThe work of e-skills UK supports the skills needs of the UK's 1.5 million IT & Telecoms workforce. This includes everyone who works in an IT or telecoms business as well as technology professionals who work in other sectors.

Our work helps the people who create and maintain the UK's information, business process and security systems; who develop the software and computer applications that underpin everything from the internet and financial services to games and entertainment; and who manage our communications systems and networks.

In addition, our work supports the four million business managers who need to understand what technology could mean for their business; and the 22 million people who use IT in their day to day jobs (77% of the UK's working population).

Our collaborative programmes are leading the way in:

• Inspiring young people about IT and helping them build the skills they need for lives in a technology-rich world. Our activities include the development of employer-designed IT learning resources for schools, an employer-backed degree course, and a high profile information campaign about careers in technology.

• Supporting the UK's technology professionals, helping them to develop their skills and knowledge throughout their careers. For example, we work with employers to create high quality learning programmes, and we set and maintain world-class standards for IT & Telecoms qualifications and training.

• Helping employers of all sizes to understand and invest in technology and in the IT skills of the people who work for them.

These activities are underpinned by our authoritative research programmes. Our research includes the latest market intelligence on IT & Telecoms jobs and skills trends. The data is also widely used by other organisations, including employers, educators and government, to inform decision making.
