Speaking at the event were former shadow minister for education & skills and member, of the innovation, universities, science and skills committee, Timothy Boswell. Michael Davis, director of strategy and performance, at the UK commission for employment and skills and Stephen Williams MP, Liberal Democrat shadow for innovation, universities and skills. The event was chaired by the chair of the, innovation, universities, science and skills committee, Phil Willis MP.

David Thompson, Director of Policy and Public Affairs, opened the proceedings, by noting the importance of investing in skills during the recession. He highlighted the vast number of bodies in the skills sector, but was keen to stress, that the debate over the structure of the skills machinery should not, “get in the way of outcomes”.
