Examples of Excellence

Business in the Community's Awards for Excellence celebrate and recognise the very best examples of responsible business practice and the impact gained from its integration into mainstream operation both on business and society. The awards promote a better way of doing business by encouraging companies to measure, continually improve and communicate their positive impact on society. Since 1998 over 200 companies have been awarded the BIG TICK as finalists in the Awards for Excellence.

Business in the Community annually bestows the Company of the Year Award in association with Tomorrow’s Company on a company committed to improving and reporting its overall impact on society - on the environment, in the workplace, marketplace and community. The award will recognise the company that, in the opinion of the judges:

  • provides the best example of leadership, integration, collaborative action, impact and inspiration (identified under Business in the Community’s three membership commitments)
  • is able to show most convincingly the resulting benefits to the business and to society.

The winner, or "Example of Excellence", is recognised as Business in the Community's “Company of the Year”. The following companies have been honoured as Business in the Community’s Companies of the Year over the last three years. Business in the Community understands that one size does not fit all when it comes to evaluating responsible business practice and accordingly divides the applicants for the Awards into two categories: large companies and small and medium companies (under 250 employees).
