Local MP Tom Brake will be 'Making a Difference' on Saturday when he and a team of volunteers will be helping to clean up the River Wandle. Tom and the other volunteers will be litter picking along the River bank, and maybe even venturing in.
The 31st October is CSV (Community Service Volunteer) Make A Difference Day and Tom is encouraging local people to think about the ways in which they can take part in Carshalton and Wallington.
Speaking about the day Tom said, 'Make A Difference Day is a great opportunity for all of us to give something back to our I community. I hope that people will join together to help others and our local area and enjoy the sense of achievement and community spirit this day creates.'
Tom went on to say 'Volunteering is very rewarding and this is a good chance to give your time if you have not done so before. I am looking forward to getting stuck in and I hope that other people take up this opportunity too.'
There are hundreds of ways to get involved, you can register your own idea on the CSV website or you can sign up to an existing project.
Tom and the team will be meeting this Saturday at the junction of Papermill Close and Mill Lane between 9am and 12pm.
