As the government continues taking its Royal Mail reforms through Parliament, an ePolitix.com survey shows hostility to the plans.

Business secretary Lord Mandelson's controversial Postal Services Bill has its second reading in the House of Lords on Tuesday.

And ahead of the debate, the ePolitix.com poll found that 52 per cent of those taking part are against the part-privatisation.

Some 31.5 per cent say they back the plans, however, and 16.5 per cent 'don't know'.

Despite their scepticism over the legislation, and the prospects of a large Labour rebellion in the Commons, a majority of respondents expect the government to gain approval for its scheme.

Fifty-three per cent predicted that the Bill would be passed, while just 17.8 per cent thought it would not and 29.3 said they were unsure.

ePolitix.com surveyed 321 people online from March 5-10.
