MPs triumph in pancake race

Mark Harper, Stephen Pound and Brian Iddon have won this year's Rehab parliamentary pancake race.

The MPs beat teams of peers and lobby journalists in the relay race, notwithstanding the many references to flipping and tossing.

Lords McNally, Dubs and Addington and Baroness Miller of Chilthorne Domer competed for the Upper House and Gary Gibbon, Rita Chakrabarti and Libby Wiener represented the press corps.

Celebrity chef Gary Rhodes was the race's official starter and he presented the winning team with a "magnificent" tin cup.

Betty Williams and Anne Begg were on hand to congratulate their fellow MPs.

The pancake race is usually held on Shrove Tuesday but took place a week early because of the recess.

The event aims to heighten awareness of Rehab's work for people with disabilities.
