Shadow foreign secretary William Hague poked fun at the foreign secretary today, given reports suggesting that he is to be replaced by business secretary, Lord Mandelson.

"In the 21st century the appointment by an unelected prime minster of an unelected minister to an unelected House would be a very good argument for an immediate general election," Hague said.

Miliband said he would take that as "warm wishes".

"Quite whether that is good for my prospects or not is an open question," he added.

Seeking to deflect the rumour, Miliband replied that he looked forward to "at least another year of jousting" with Hague.
